I just got my new NVR-4108-8P-4KS2 and im totally new on this device;

when i shut down the nvr on the menu i get the message that the system is shutting down but power keeps running. This device has not on/off switch. Should the machine turns power off itsself ?

I have waiting more than 15 minutes but the machine keeps displaying 'NVR is Shutdown..."

I have the same experience on my 4108HS-4KS2 with latest firmware 4.001.0000005.1.
When pressing shutdown, the NVR ist still up and running. It seems only the HD is going to sleep.
Have tried to shutdown via ssh, but after enabling ssh I am not able to get access via ssh:
Code:

Not generally on an NVR in my experience.
Shut down and Power off are not the same.

Which in reality means it is safe to power it off, presumably by unplugging the AC adaptor from the mains.

On a away it makes sense; since there is no power on/off switch on this device unplugging (of plugging in) the powercord is de only way to turn of/on the device.
Coming from a windows machine its very strange to unplug the powercord to turnoff the "computer'

In reality, the power is still on as well when you shut down a Windows PC.
Check the link detect light on the switch or router when the device is shut down.
If 'wake on LAN' is enabled - the magic packet will start the machine up because the LAN is still being listened to.
Check if the USB ports are supplying power - does your phone charge when plugged in?
