Greetings. I have a LOREX N862ASB-Z 16 channel NVR that has stopped working. First the network port stopped working, and now the cameras. I've tried everything out there, including replacing the Realtek network switch on the circuit board. It's most likely the HiSilicon SoC that is bad. Anyway, any recommendation on an NVR that is compatible with the 8 4K cameras I already have installed around my house? I also have 2 W261AQ wi-fi cameras and the lorex video doorbell that connect via fusion, and I'm ok losing that capability since I ran network cables to those locations. I know I can order another Lorex NVR but I'm kind of over their equipment at this point.

I put in the LOREX fusion series of DVR and I love it. The really cool feature is it will do 8 or 16 wired IP cameras dependent on which you buy then it does 6 more wireless cameras. Wireless cams come in great in those areas where you cant easily run a wire. I think if you look at the latest items Lorex has you will be impressed!

Lorex, used to carry Dahua oem products.

In general I have found the life span of nvrs to be less than that of a business class pc and a separate poe switch.

If you're wanting a NVR get a dahua oem nvr from EmpireTech for best results with dahua oem cameras from lorex.

Note I would need to double check the lorex model camera you mentioned to see if it is indeed a dahua oem camera.

Thanks Matt. Is there a way to check the Lorex cameras I have? The NVR is pretty much out of commission at this point. It won't see the cameras either.

HI @DirectedT3CH

It LOOKS like a Dahua OEM model to me ..

Since they have more advanced features you would want a higher level NVR from Lorex or Dahua.

If you get a Dahua OEM NVR you may need to manually configure the substream info from what I recall. Not hard to do, just not 100% plug and play ( close iirc, but not fully 100% ).

Hopefully you remember the user / passwords for the cameras. Otherwise can require some configuration or factory reset to defaults iirc.
( note I am purely attempting to recall my memory on this - so things could be different now as it's been awhile since I needed to do this )

Andy's most current 16 port PoE NVR w/AI features is the first model I would consider if you're not going to do an Blue Iris or the like here.

You can buy a Lorex branded NVR that Lorex shows is compatible with the cameras, but those tend to be rather pricey when not bundled in a kit that is on sale.

I've had Lorex as well and I can tell you once you start connecting all those cams, you'll use up the limited bandwidth pretty quickly. Performance can be dismal the more cameras you add.

This is one of the cam newbie Frustrations that led me to try BI.
As your standing in the Coscto Aisle looking all the fancy marketing ploys. The better option in 2019 or whenever it was Lorex.
But they don't tell you anything about the limited resources as you pile on more cams.
Of course we newbies have the known knowns, and the known unknowns, and then the unknown unknowns.
It's one of those things you find out later and get pissed off about.
