NVR Detects Camera Sort of

Getting the hang of it

I picked up a new camera (IPC-T54IR-ZE White S3) from EmpireTechAndy and when I use a ~3ft. ethernet cable, it can be detected by the NVR. It also displays a picture and I can adjust the settings in the NVR. However, when I attempt to use my laptop to access the settings of the camera via Internet Explorer, it does not bring me to the proper page and I get an error. All of the other cameras allow for this.

Secondarily, the camera shows that it's offline when I plug it into the new cable I ran outside. When I plug my laptop into that cable, I can see the other cameras which are on the NVR, so I know that the cable is functional. It's not as long of a run as what I have for at least 2 of the other cameras on the system and they all function normally.

This will be my 6th camera on the 8 channel NVR, but according to everything in the NVR I'm way below the power and data handling capability of what the NVR ca do unless I'm grossly misreading that.

I have also reset the camera with no change in the situation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cordes, what is the error you get with explorer. Did you try the same url on the 'pale moon' browser?

About the longer cable.. first test it with cable tester. If all is well then i would try to crimp a new connector on it.
I had situations where the testing was succesful and the camera was not working because of bad connector/grip.

I believe it said that it couldn't find the IP address whenever I would attempt to open the camera in IE. I won't be able to try it with Pale Moon for a bit as it will be the weekend before I can physically take the camera down and go back and forth with it again.

Do you have a suggestion for the cable tester? I put a couple different connectors on, and felt that the last set was ideal. Frankly, I thought the original ones I made were great too, but I did that just to troubleshoot.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to do some more research, and see if that helps, but I'm open to any and all suggestions.

OK, I picked up a POE tester, and there are a couple wires crossed in the line I ran. I'm wondering if the cable wasn't nicked when I pulled it through the siding and everything. I'll figure that out tomorrow.

For the camera problem, it seems like the IP address and Default Gateway are the problem. I can't seem to figure out what I need to enter there in order for it to not only have the camera function when viewed by the NVR, but also accessible from the laptop I use to look at the other cameras.

The other cameras list the IP address as 10.1.1.6x when viewed from the camera access in IE under the network tab for TCP.IP. The Default Gateway is 192.168.1.1 when viewed in the same.

If I try to enter those in the NVR, I get errors. Any ideas?

Sometimes they dont like the Gateway of 192.x.x.x and the IP of 10.1.1.x

Gateway can be the internal switch, so give it 10.1.1.1 (you can see this Under Network--> Switch)

Thanks. When I go to Network--> Switch it lists both the IP address and Default Gateway as 10.1.1.1

For some reason, it won't allow for me to connect to the camera via my laptop through the NVR. I get the following message when I attempt it:
It looks like the webpage at might be having issues, or it may have moved permanently to a new web address

All of the cameras I had setup previously work fine. It's just the new one, and the one I accidentally deleted from the list which have the problem now. They'll automatically add themselves to the camera list, but they can't be accessed like the others. I'm really at a loss with it.

Yes I know.
You said when you were in the camera it wouldnt allow you to set the gateway as 192.168.1.X

Set the camera gateway to 10.1.1.1

After that reboot and you must use the correct browser.
Either IE or Edge in IE mode

If still a problem, default the camera using the physical button in the little door that holds the SD card, then wait for it to register

Then show us a picture of the camera registration page

Thank you very much for the help. It would appear as though Pale Moon will open the cameras, but nothing else will. This is an extraordinarily slow laptop, so it has difficulty even with that. I think I may be able to make it all work though. I now have another camera out front for a total of three, and I just put up two of the Tendilux IR illuminators to boost their capabilities at night.

Thanks to everyone on this site who has helped me along the way. I've had a ton of people ask for video from my cameras since I've put them up. The police were impressed with my system yet again this week. It's amazing what a great resource this community is.

Thanks again!
