Hi guys I have been lurking here on and off for a few months and I am about ready to buy some hardware and install a home system. I am trying to figure out an nvr setup that will work for me. I bought a 16 port POE Switch late last year because I planned on using BI software. After more deliberating I decided just to go with a NVR. I looked around and figured any NVR would work for me so I was going for cheap and effective.

I want to just connect that to my switch and use my switch to power everything. The NVR would be for data collection and review. I am looking for opinions on this plan and some input. The only thing I dont like about this particular NVR is the single hard drive. What can I do to back up NAS/cloud? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I will be posting in the camera section shortly, but I think I'll start with 4-5 cameras as I see how everything works and what goals I may have as I apply real world input.
