I am currently facing this question too. I did check out this dahua recorder spec sheet: NVR2108HS-8P-I2
It should be sufficient to drive 4-5 4MP cameras while I try to figure out if I would prefer BI.
Also looked at NVR4108HS-8P-4KS2/L. Not sure what I need...
Is there any functionality I would lose? Like camera settings for exposure, LED, whatever? Any serious objection?
Is there any reason why I should not be able to resell it, in case I decide for BI in the long run? I realize, I would have to buy a POI injector switch if I replace it.
The spec sheet calls for 10W for the recorder, without camera poe or HDD. I can't beat that with my PC, I won't even get close.
