They are each a stand alone VMS (Video Management System) that are independent of one another. Simply pick one. Blue Iris won't manage the NVR or talk to it or vice versa. Now having used NVRs and now BI, I feel BI is way more robust. Do a search here for BI versus an NVR and look at the pros and cons of each and then pick the one best for you.
