NVR5216-16P-4KS2E Died

First thing to check is the power supply cable bad? Is there like nothing - no beep, no light?

Also check that the fan is clean.

Next would be I think there is a battery inside that one?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Haven't checked the power supply cable, is that common. No beep, no light. I'll clean out the fan and look for a battery as well.

The power supply cable is a cheap fix. I forget if that is the wall-wart transformer type or if the power supply is within the NVR, but the wall-wart one is a more common failure. I had one or two different brand ones have those go out.

If your NVR is like my 5232-16P 4k NVR If there is no power at all not even a blue light that is flashing on the front it could be a cable issue. Rare but something to check. Next if the cable is good and again nothing then sounds like bad Power supply. It is like a Mini PC power supply difference is that it supports 52v and 12v. So would need to do a little testing before you go and buy a replacement, first i would remove power from HDD and Fan and see if that makes the NVR come on if it does then the issue could be with secondary device and not power supply. If you have a multil meter you could test the voltage at your PCB from power supply. With the wires plugged in if you have V+ in 12 and 52v flavors then you might have a dead fuse in the NVR.. This most likely would be a SMD fuse soldered to the PCB. Could be old glass fuse type but rare

Seems like my 4 year old NVR5216-16P-4KS2E is dead. It won't power on. Is there any troubleshooting to get this operational again or should I opt for a new NVR?

Hi @sausageeggcheese

Power Supply is in the unit iirc, possible to have that go. Can use a volt meter to check if power is coming out of it.

4 year old unit, could be a good time to replace it. These do not last as long as I like them to.

thanks! I have a Synology NAS, any downsides from using their Surveillance station feature? Going this route would require that I buy a separate poe switch.

Synology charges imho a lot once you go beyond the 2 free cameras
