Hi,
I need to update outdated firmware release of 2018 (although automatic check says it is the latest one) of my NVR5232-16P-4KS2E purchased in 2019 in CN. Lately I had some strange camera shut downs which I corrected (hopefully) by restarting and reseting to factory settings.
I also noticed that some functions dont really work as they should, so I think firmware is to be updated. I searched Dahua firmware site and found the latest release DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.002.0000000.8.R.241030. But i am not 100% sure it is ok. I somehow dont want to brick it just yet :)

I kindly ask you to let me know if anybody of you have any experiences with this NVR and this firmware release and report to to me if any problems are to be expected.

Thanks,
Andrej

I would use empire tech for all your firmware updates. Enter your NVR model number under the NVR tab and it pulls it up. Looks like there’s a new one put out a few months ago!

CN as in China?

It may well have a hacked english language firmware on it.
Updating it to a newer firmware may result in it changing to chinese language.
CN=China.
You might be correct. Current firmware is Eng_PN_V3.216.****

Is there a way to move back to old firmware if CN language is to happen?

if you can read chinese why not just use the chinese firmware?

I don't even know that you could roll back to english firmware.
I'm sure it requires some vendor inside knowledge to be able to do so.

Change out the IP address for your NVR. That is for one of the many in my fleet, Running that on my last NVR returns..
serialNumber=AMR035xxxxxxxxxx06
deviceType=31
processor=ST7108
updateSerial=DHI-NVR4232-EI

Would be interested in what your info is returned as. I changed 10 of my SN to X's .. Might shed some light on your device running that in your Chrome Browser.. Again using your NVRs IP address in place of mine.

I get this back

deviceType=31
processor=ST7108
serialNumber=4Fxxxxxxxxxx7DD
updateSerial=NVR5X-4K

What can you tell me from this information?

Well seems to be a Dahua model for sure. As you might have been able to tell from my SN and my Update serial mine isn't a Dahua direct but is a Dahua OEM and in my case it is an Amcrest so that is why my Serial number has AMR in the front for Amcrest Recorder.. Anyway yours might have come from ES country area. There is a 2024 FW for the NVR on the Dahua Website. NVR5216/5232-16P-4KS2E - Dahua Spain I also have that NVR but is from Amcrest as well. Mine hasn't had an update since 2022 it is EOL and no longer getting updates.. Hope this helps some.

From my DVR also from Amcrest I have many different recorders between 4 locations. These are just form the last 2 I bought from Amcrest.
processor=ST7108
serialNumber=AMR15xxxxxxxxxx5F4
updateSerial=DH-XVR5108HS-4KL-I3

My guess that is the intended FW for your device. If when you DL and try to install if it don't install then the SN don't match the FW type for the FW and will need to find the Other from what ever country the FW is locked in now.. I did find a few others but not sure they would work for your NVR seeing it only shows they are setup for DH-5xxx-4KS2 and can't find any of the others with the E.. I have installed a Multi Lang FW on one that was only setup for En and even able to go back to the other one after the fact..

According to chatGPT E at the end stands for:
E: Usually denotes an enhanced version, such as better processing power, improved firmware, or additional features compared to standard models.

If that is true, than ES is not the right assumption.

That is interesting. That isn't my understanding.

Standard vs. Advanced Model:

1, NVR5232-16P-4KS2E is a standard model in Dahua's Pro series.
2. NVR5232-16P-4KS2ES usually indicates an enhanced version with additional or specific features, which might include support for specialized storage or analytics.

However as I said if you were to DL the FW and try to install it, It will not install if it was not meant for the device.. I just tried one that could have worked for mine but after the update bar getting to 1/2 way it said the update failed and NVR rebooted and all back to working as it was before.. Normally bricking a device is caused by a power outage or some other issue not the wrong file, Dahua puts in blocks to keep FW from being installed in devices they were not meant for unless forced in by some other Gray Market installer.. I guess the only thing left to do is contact Dahua Support via Email as ask them for your FW, Provide them the SN and Model number and they will either Email you a link or the file directly. I have an old 8Mp ai Dahua camera that isn't supported anymore and couldn't find the FW anywhere online. I sent them an email and got an updated FW while it was from many years ago it did correct some issues it was having with the FW that was installed at the time.. It is an older AI Camera and works well enough for it current use.. Just trying to be helpful..

Here is an extreme case.. I might get in some trouble because of what I do and who know me that trolls this site lol But here is one of my NVRs from a OEM Dahua company that has not had an update since 2022 and I thought let me see if the current DH FW will work. As I said worse case is that it would get to 1/2 mark and fail.. But finding the same type NVR as my NVR but in Dahua format I Dl the FW and installed it. You can see in ithe 2 pictures same IP and you can tell different color of the page after update and wow it looks much different then the other brands WebUI lol.. But now this NVR is working and only difference is that I have to use Dahua app to access the NVR over P2P as the OEM P2P will no longer work with the Dahua format installed.. I am good with that.. Extreme because I not only updated the FW to a different FW I also went 2 years past other FW that was in this format. Now the version went from 4.00 to 4.003 passing 4.002.. There is still a newer FW that I could install but will run this one for little while just because lol.. I have 5 NVRs in my current location, 5232E-16P, 4216-E1, 4116E-HS, 4108E-HS and this 4208-A2 so even if something was wrong with update. I have other cameras covering same area of interest with my other devices.. Plus have 2 DVRs running 1 that is 16ch and 1 that is 8ch.. So have plenty coverage..

Ok so found something that isn't working lol. I will have to look into this as I find it very strange.. Email when i do a test it says it passed but there is no email in my inbox lol. Everything else is working as expected though.. Just saying..

edit never mind seems there is a Block of some sort, Event events that were sent by other devices are failing and strange that looking at some of them I get some from yesterday and some have failed.. I will have to figure that out.. I don't log into this email account I only use it for sending.. I use my .com email to get emails.. So wasn't aware I am missing events lol

edit edit: lol Well seems my server has started to mark my DVR/NVRs as Spam lol so I have to fix that. I mean 500 to 1000 emails a day isn't a lot is it?

Hi.
Managed to update it w/o problem.

However, i thought that it would fix the problem with face detection. I cant enable it as I get back "the config is not supported".

Any ideas?
