ONVIF issue with Axis 3085 and Hikvision DS-7332HGHI

Pulled my hair out the last two days trying to figure this out and thought maybe someone here might have an idea.

I am installing a few IP cams to an existing working hybrid Hikvison with 19 coaxial in use. Had one Axis 3005 and two new 3085s. Was able to add the 3005 using a created ONVIF user without any issue other then I had to select Administrator as the access level.

The 3085s are another story. Followed the exact same routine (added Admin ONVIF account on the cam) and added to the DVR. The camera make, model, firmware all show in the GUI so I know it’s got the right access / IP / ports. But for whatever reason - no video at all through DVR. Web interface is just fine. Just get “no link” and “unknown error” in the camera setup menu.

Used ONVIF device manager and the settings between the 3005/3085 look almost identical. There’s one difference in that the auto discovery address on the 3005 is a 169 IP address, while the 3085s show as the cameras actual IP… but can’t imagine that’s the problem.

Only theory I have is an issue with the encoding settings but even those were identical h264 / 1080p / 30fps.

While I’d love to replace the DVR it’s not within the scope of the project. Worst case scenario is finding more 3005 cameras and returning the 3085s but am not ready to give up on them yet.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

We see this all the time (well with different makes and models). Maybe you are over the capacity of the NVR.

Try dropping to 15FPS on a few cameras and see if the video shows. Or unplug all the cameras but this one and see if it shows. If it does in either scenario, then you know you are exceeding the bandwidth of the NVR.

What is the capacity of the hybrid in terms of number of analog and IP cameras, you may have exceeded that as well.

But unplugging all the cameras but this trouble one will let you know if any of the above is the issue.

I'd guess it maybe is.
169.x IP addresses are 'self-administered addresses' when an interface is set to use DHCP but no DHCP server responds.
IP cameras should ideally be set with static IP addresses selected for the network they are connected to, outside the pool range of the network DHCP service.

Hi, thanks for the responses. I should have provided some more information.

- I initially installed the 3005 successfully and then ran into the challenges with the 3085s - so I disconnected all three IP cams to see if the NVR capacity was the issue. Despite that - 3085 still showed no video. The datasheet for the DVR shows it should be able to support up to 8 channels if IP cams and 32 coax; unclear if that means total of 40 or 32 max combined of the two. But there are only 19 coax so we're at 22 total.

- Wasn't clear on my end re: network settings They're all set with static IP addresses; what I was referring to was in ONVIF device manager, Settings were identical for all three, but for zero-discovery - the working 3005 showed the 169 address (see below) - while the non-working 3085s showed their static address.

(I didn't try disabling zero config)

Based on the fact the DVR can see the cameras (shows cam information/etc.) - is it likely that the feed encoding itself may be to blame? The one thing that wasn't clear with the 3085s was the ONVIF default encoding settings. Both models are supposedly ONVIF profile S - so I assumed it would be the same; but the interface leaves a lot to be desired.
