Did it awhile back and trying to remember. ...

Q: Can you using a windows computer networking see the nfs share and open it/write to it?

Also, is this nfs share (SSD) only being used for nfs?
I set this up as SMB share as well so assume its being used for NFS and SMB, I can get to it via smb but I have to login as one of the users, which a camera wouldn't have to do...

Try setting up a group then add the share to it and member and check all the ACL's.
Did that.

FTP seems to work, as it creates the folders and gives snapshots / broken videos. NAS doesn't seem to work even though its setup the same just without login

FTP broken video is because camera cant stay connected to ftp.
Ftp option "Allow clients to resume interrupted uploads and downloads " enabled so camera can stay connected to record properly.

Ftp def be my last choice much better to get NFS working but at least you can be recording now if it works.

Just curious what is the Amcrest video compression options? H264, H265?

H.264 video compression.

I get the folder for the camera but nothing else in the folder....

You set camera for ftp and get the camera write a folder for ftp but noting else?

Have you tried doing continuous and/or snapshot instead of motion (maybe motion not working?).

My omv ftp options I have enabled starting from top are:

enable (duh)
anonymous
permit root login
fxp
resume
ident protocol

Nothing else except omv Access Rights Managment settings

Copied your settings to the letter.

I think I've got everything setup but I've stared at this so long I now only see what I want to see. A fresh set of eyes might help...

Did a reboot of the camera now seeing files, but still the video clips are very small. Tomorrow I'll try to get this as a test on Ethernet to see if that helps, right now I'm on wifi cause its in my garage and no way to get cables down there...

Not familiar with Amcrest but looks correct and it is working.

You can change the pack duration in camera settings to whatever you want. Dahua default is 8 min (1-120 minutes) pack size and Amcrest looks to be 7 min.

Keep in mind bigger pack size mean bigger downloads from NAS to windows machine when viewing clips.

Link below say's Amcrest records in Dav format so might try using Dahua smart player instead of VLC for viewing,

Under omv nfs share xtra options:
Try adding the no root squash so looks like this :subtree_check,insecure,no_root_squash

Reboot both camera and omv after if it doesn't work and try again.

Re ftp set the camera pack duration to 10 min and wait 15 min or so and see how playback looks. Whats the result?

These amcrest cameras are pretty bad for simple thing like NAS

Could try going into shared folders-your share-ACL and check all rw boxes under system accounts and retest nfs.

So it appears that it is writing to the file, I just can't see it in Windows SMB?
