There's been a sort of development come re-think on my part. I'm hoping that by asking this further question, others who use the forum, may benefit...even if the idea is a non-starter at least they'll know why!
Wi-fi throughout my house isn't great so I've just purchased a 3 pack set of tp-link deco m5 mesh wi-fi. I can currently get Wi-Fi from my house to my remote office as it's not that far away using my current stock router. The deco M5 should improve matters if i place the units carefully, and one would be located in my remote office, right next to where I want to site the cam facing my house! The deco M5 has two ethernet ports as each unit.
Ignoring the necessary weather-proofing of cables and connections etc (I do know that this is really important), could I hook up the cam to the deco M5 unit in my remote office via
Cat5e extrenal cable. Would I need a POE injector...I'm guessing I would? If so where in the daisy chain would this sit?
However the cam has the facility for powering it via 12V power adaptor, so it doesn't actually need POE. Could I power the cam with a suitable power adaptor, then link the cam to the deco M5 via Cat5e?
Sorry if this thread is becoming a little tedious, I'm really new to CCTV. As always, I appreciate the time everyone takes to reply and remain grateful.
p.s. if anyone ever needs to know about chocolate, that's an entirely different matter
