I have a couple of FI9831. I am happy with the performance. I would like to add an outdoor camera.
It doesn't need to have pan/tilt. But needs be Wifi

Looking at the Foscam lineup, would theFI985P be the natural choice?

I would avoid foscam like the plague...but if you insist on foscam look at this model. http://foscam.us/products/fi9803p-plug-play-1-0-megapixel-1280x720p-h-264-outdoor-wireless-ip-camera.html
The 9805 looks awful...
Also not that ANY wired ip camera can be made wifi with a 10 dollar bridge.
You might want to consider this hikvision as it has an sd card slot so you have a backup recording when the wifi goes out.

Ultimately you are best of paying someone to run ethernet...

The more I look at the installation of my outdoor cam I am thinking that I need to get a vandal proof style.
However, the cam would need to be very compact, and WifFi.

The back of townhouse has windows at ground level with a room slightly below grade. A deck on top for the main living room.
I am thinking to install he cam below the deck.
