Panoeagle camera wont connect to Hikvision NVR

Hi

Got a panoeagle 8mp camera that is "Hik Compatible"

I am trying to connect it to my Hikvision NVR (DS-7608NI-I2 / 8P)

The cameras network settings are statically set to
IP: 192.168.254.8
SUBNET: 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY: 192.168.254.1 (Interface IP of the Hikvision "Camera" subnet)

I have

• Checked all network settings
• Confirmed HIK Connect is enabled, port 8000
• Tried ONVIF and RTSP also (same error - network abnormal)
• Updated camera firmware
• factory reset it

Here is a diagram to explain

Essentially, Direct connect camera to d8 on NVR = abnormal network
connect camera -> poe switch -> d8 on NVR = ONLINE

I cant figure out why it would work via switch, there are no other devices on the switch, its unmanaged, essentially a direct connection still

The only things i can come up with is perhaps an interface speed mismatch (should be 10/100 i assume, or "auto") or a PoE mismatch of sorts

Any thoughts?

Have you checked the IP address that's configured on the D8 port?
I'd have expected it to be 192.168.254.9 not .8

Yeah sure did, even tried changing ports, IPs etc, its really odd tbh

SOLVED: Turned out it was a dodgy crimp at NVR end, even though cable all tested out OK, i chopped it off and put a new one on and it came up!
