Pay Attention To Your Surroundings -- January 14, 2025

Don't have White Tipped here, But in the last 3 years I have lost a Female dove every year. First year was to a Cat at the back bird feeder. Second year was to what I am guessing was an Owl seeing it was around 3am and she was snatched off the Nest.. What was crazy was the male didn't come back until more then 3 hours later to find her gone. She had been night laying her eggs for 2 weeks at that point. The male took it over and that night I don't know how he got a new female to come but another smaller female came and finished the night shifts until the eggs hatched and Fledged. I didn't think they would hatch because Google said 30min was as long as they could go once she starts laying without being covered. He never found another mate until next season. This last year might have been my fault. His new season mate didn't even hatch first pair of eggs. She was gone after first week of eggs showing up. A couple of days later the eggs were kicked out and he never found another mate.. Hope 2025 is better for him and his new mate..
