Hi all, with Win 10 EOL fast approaching, I was looking for a PC setup with Win 11. I went through this excellent article: . While it has great suggestions, it does not address one issue I am most concerned about: NOISE! My PC will be in an area where this becomes an important consideration. Are there any suggestions from experienced forum users about hardware that will minimize noise when it is operating. I will only have 3-4 cams connected normally, when noise is an issue (I connect additional cams when we are not home, and if the noise increases at that time, it is not a huge deal).

Thanks in advance,
-Kal.

Thanks for the quick reply @loony2ns. Are all Optiplex SFF's virtually silent, including the i7 models, or just the i5 ones?

Thanks @loony2ns. @Gimmons, you make a good point. I will research.

So, is it safe to assume that most SFF PCs from major vendors like Dell and HP are probably pretty quiet?

I have a bunch of HPs, and with them it depends on the HDD. Some are crunchier than others, but otherwise they're silent. I have one running 24/7 in the bedroom. You'd never know it was there.

We recently had a long discussion of how to load W11 on older machines. If you can't find it lemme know.

@MinaCrosby, that’s a rather generic answer. I was looking for people’s experience with specific models running BI, including AI.
I am running BI on a ASRock, X300W Deskmini and it is very quiet, limited options for regular HD's so I am running my storage on an external Unit with a fan, the external unit makes more noise than the PC! I have also recently built up an ASRock DeskMeet X600 that does have room for 1 regular HD, and it is very quiet also, don't have BI on it yet, under full load benchmarks it does get a bit of fan noise when the fan gets up to full speed! Nice thing about both of these units is that they are relatively small and can be tucked away and do not look like a conventional PC

Have you considered building your own PC, it is not hard, you can use components like cases with extra fans, high flow, etc

I run a NZXT H6 Flow case with Be Quiet brand fans, I can also adjust the fan speed from the Motherboard (ASUS AM4 platform). 6 Dahua cams in use, 4 running 24/7/365.

^Super Quiet^
