Hi guys,
Just need some help please with a system,
(system will be running 4x 3mp Hikvision cameras. only used for motion detection recording and also webcasting/mobile view)

Im looking at the following
FAST MINI PC HTPC Computer Windows Linux Thin Client Mini Pc Intel Core I5 DDR3 1333 2GB RAM 16GB SSD 4K HD HTPC TV Box -in Mini PCs from Computer & Office on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

or i was going to build a system comprising of the following parts:

Mobo: Asus H81M-C
CPU: intel Core i3-4160 3.6ghz
RAM: Kingston 4gb ddr3 1333
HDD: Seagate barracuda 1TB Sata3 7200
Case: Thermaltake Versa H15

Can anyone recommend there ideas on both systems (negatives and postives to each would help)

Thanks guys

I would not buy a minipc on aliexpress....also that processor is going to barley cut it for 12mp...
if you want a thin client you can find deals for the lenovo m93 tiny pc for a but more, but with a much better processor...
Lenovo ThinkCentre M93P Tiny Desktop i5 4570 2 9GHz 4GB 250GB WiFi | eBay
Lenovo ThinkCentre M93P Tiny Desktop i5 4570T 2 9GHz 4GB 128GB Solid State | eBay
Although the first listing says its a 4570s I believe it is really a 4570T which is still way more powerful than the processor in the aliexpress pc...
Another great option is this elitedesk HP Elitedesk 800 G1 USDT Desktop Core i5 4570s 4GB 320GB 2017 Warranty | eBay
the S processors are great, low power, but still almost as powerful as a full haswell.
If you want room for drives, look at the tower hp elitedesks or dell outlet 7020/9020 optiplex minitowers - they come with three year next business day warranties (this is important as you need to get the pc running in case of failure)..when there is an outlet sale you can get awesome deals..you can also find great deals on the optiplex and elitedesk systems on ebay...

Hi fenderman,
thanks for the comments.
i wont look at the minipc anymore,

but what do you think on the specs of the system i was going to put together?
Mobo: Asus H81M-C
CPU: intel Core i3-4160 3.6ghz
RAM: Kingston 4gb ddr3 1333
HDD: Seagate barracuda 1TB Sata3 7200

Its not a bad system, but I stopped building systems a few years ago because its simply not cost effective..
How much is that system going to cost you after you factor in the OS?
You can buy a more powerful system from HP or dell for less than your build cost...the business systems are built exceptionally well.
IF you want the tower here is one HP Elitedesk 800 G1 8GB RAM 500GB Intel Processor i5 3 2 GHz Win7 8 | eBay
Also check out the dell outlet they are having a sale - you need to use the coupon code...Dell Outlet Business Buy More Save More Sale | Dell
If you are dead set on building, i would go with an I5 over the i3...

the prices to build is roughly $450 AUD
this system is mainly for friends who have asked me to build them a full system with a $500 budget for PC,
I was looking at the refurbed dell systems but with postage to my area they are roughly around the same price.
Also looking to expand this into a small business, as i live in a remote mining town that has a very bad crime rate currently and people are wanting home CCTV systems are wanting costs under 2000 installed.

what about this system Fenderman?
Dell OptiPlex 790 Small Form PC, Black Auction (0008-192841) | GraysOnline Australia

also another option im thinking about but not sure...
Dell Optiplex 980 SFF Core i5 3.2GHz DVD-RW Desktop - Ex Lease | De
Skip that one, the 980 is a 5 year old system running a weak i5-650 first generation processor and the power consumption is high ..it will just barely (if that) be able to run your cams and the processor will be pegged at close to 100 percent ...you should get a haswell fourth gen...
If you are looking at optiplex look for the 7020 or 9020....

Are these systems bogged down by bloatware? That's why I've been building my own systems. I also feel like I have more upgrade, downgrade, swap parts options.

Business systems come with almost zero additional software....its also pretty easy to clean install...its much cheaper to buy a dell outlet machine than it is to build one..

Hi guys,
Just need some advise please with a Blue Iris system,

I need to build a Blue Iris box that will be connected to 25 Hikvision
DS-2CD2032-I 3 MP cams. Will a Intel Core i7-4790K be able to manage the load with FPS set to 15 and using Direct to drive?

You should be ok...that is 75mp total...its hard to know...if you run some cams at 2mp you should be fine...
