Hey Guys,

For the most part, my network is working just fine. I went with the VPN topology because the MiFi routers are using SIM cards/IP's that sit behind NAT.
My nodes are remote (Rural) and this seemed like the most economical way to do business for a non-commercial setup.

My question for you is this: If I was to add an NVR of sorts, where would be the best place to put it? I am always cautious about speeds through the VPN and bandwidth.

At present, I'm just using VLC/RTSP to connect to cameras however I want to expand this to some kind of server infrastructure.
I want to keep it as simple as possible, maybe set up some file shares at the router locations, then only grab recordings on request? I dunno
After advice for expansion.

You would want to put the NVR as close to the cameras as possible.

Passing all that traffic over a VPN would be a lot of processing for the VPN tunnel and if you are going over a WAN will be a lot of bandwidth.

Put the NVR on the local network with the cameras and access it remotely over the VPN from your remote site.
