Hi guys. I have 4 of these pulling LPR duties at 2 different locations. I am not crazy about the LPR performance to be honest. I am sure there are some settings that can be tweaked so that's why I am posting. The biggest challenge is my State LPs are flat (no raised letters / texture) and gold on blue. My questions are as follows
Would off angle IR help with the extreme variety of IR reflection off the plates? Simply dirtly plates are unreadable. And by dirty I mean dusty. As in you cannot tell they are dirty to the naked eye / daylight but lick you finger, wipe it across the plate, and you will DRASTICALLY change the exposure in the wiped area.
Would external lighting / flood lighting be better and disable IR?
One location has to cover a very wide driveway. I may be able to zoom in slightly more, but I am afraid of missing cars that hang to one side or the other. Would a 4, 6, or 8mp camera do better here? I am under the impression that I do not have to have a Starlight for LPR since the shutter speed is so fast anyway? Any advice? Pics to follow
