POE Camera loses connectivity to Dahua NVR

Hello,

I’m not sure if I’m posting this to the right sub forum, but since I think I might have a hardware configuration issue, I’ll post here first. If I’m in the wrong forum, my apologies. I recently updated an older POE Dahua NVR to a newer model, DH-NVR2108HS-8P-I2. I used all the same Dahua POE cameras as what was in the old Dahua NVR setup. All cameras worked fine previously. After getting everything transferred over to new NVR, I’ve run into a peculiar situation. Every Tuesday morning (2AM), one of my Dahua POE cameras loses connectivity to the new NVR. The camera model is DH-SD29204T-GN. I use the POE switch functionality built into the NVR, and all cameras utilize the internal NVR DHCP setup (10.x.x.x address space). In order to resolve this issue, I have to log into the NVR console, delete the old instance of the camera, and add the camera’s new IP address (it always changes) back into the NVR camera profile. Once I input the camera’s (non default) password to its configuration, the camera comes back online right away. After I reset the camera in this way, it works fine until the following Tuesday at 2AM and I have to repeat the process all over again.

I disabled the NVR’s weekly auto reboot function (which defaulted to rebooting every Tuesday morning at 2AM) thinking that might solve the issue, but the problem still persists. I did some searching on this forum and found a reference to changing camera stream settings from CBR to VBR as a way to potentially solve issues that have a similar appearance. The offending camera’s setting was set to CBR, so I changed it to a VBR setting. Those changes didn’t resolve the issue.

The NVR is running code version 4.002.0000000.0, Build date 2021-07-09, which appears to be the latest code for this device. Ironically, I have a second Dahua POE camera that loses connectivity (with the same fix) as well, but for some reason that one only loses connectivity once every 3-4 weeks.

If anyone has any suggestions, I’d be grateful for the help!

Thanks.

Insure in the cam's webGUI that "auto maintain" or "auto reboot" is not enabled.

Check it again to make sure the NVR weekly reboot changes were actually saved and disabled.

TonyR and Starglow,

Thank you both for the replies. I can confirm that disabling of the NVR weekly reboot changes had previously saved as I did check multiple times. For TonyR's suggestion, I did log into the camera and found that the box was checked for auto reboot. I had that disabled when it was operating on the old NVR. Not sure why it was turned on after the switch to the new NVR, but I did disable and save the configuration. I guess I'll find out next Tuesday at 2AM whether or not this fixes the issue.

Thanks again!

This has nothing to do with CBR/VBR and recommend you stick with CBR

It probably wont happen again until either the NVR or camera is rebooted.

The problem is your cameras plugged into the NVR PoE switch but showing port 37777. They should be showing Port 1, Port 2, etc
This is because you manually added them from the top pane to the bottom..
You should plug the camera in and let it move/add by itself. Only hit the refresh button nothing else. Do not use the Add or Manual Add buttons
Should be like this:
NVR-Cameras.png

If the password in the camera is the same as the admin pass for the NVR you wont need to do anything. (This is the default for a new camera being plugged into the NVR unless you change it)

1- Try using a web browser to access your NVR via its IP. If you havent changed it, 192.168.1.108. Its much friendlier than the console.
2- See this thread; ***PSA for those with a New DAHUA NVR with Built-in PoE switch
