Hi,

I would like to add PoE for about 6 to 8 ip cameras to my existing network. I already have a 24 port managed switch so I think that a PoE midspan would be the cleanest solution.

There don't appear to be a whole lot of choices for a mid span but the Powerdsine/Microsemi PD-6012g seems ideal and pricy although there is always eBay.

There are more choices with a PoE switch but it does appear to be that much cheaper to go with a 24 port managed PoE switch instead. Or I could add a separate 12 port unmanaged PoE switch to my existing setup.

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I used a PD-6012g for a long time and it worked fine, webui a lil sluggish but it was no big deal.. got mine for cheap long time ago, was going to scrap it soon.. your welcome to have it if I dont have to ship hah.. face plate is busted off works fine.

needed more ports, power and gig so now I am rocking a 9024g on my 48 port managed switch.. got it for $100 through a recycler

Thanks for the info and the offer. I'm in CA so no delivery ☹.

Yeah I think I will go for the PD-6012g.
