Possible to have Hikvision NVR and 6 cams offline? No router?

Hey all - I have six cams that ran through two PoE switches and finally to an old PC with zero internet connection. All was fine until the HDD crashed in the PC! I bought a Hik 7608 NVR and plugged the network cable into it (not one of the POE ports) but it wasn't able to find any cameras, and same thing when I plugged the network cable into one of the POE ports.

I've just read that this NVR likes 192.168.254 addresses, and my cams are all 192.168.0 - sounds like I should used SADP to change the cam's IPs. What I can't figure out is whether it's possible to run SADP directly on the NVR? Do I need to somehow get a laptop attached to this network and run SADP on that?

Thanks a ton - I'm sure this is child's play for you experts and I really appreciate your time!

Welcome @theTastyCat

Yes that is what I would do.

OK - very interesting results. I'd forgotten that I put a wireless router in so I could see the cameras from any mobile device, so I connected my laptop to it. SADP showed nothing - no NVR, no cameras - and basically everything except "refresh" was greyed out. I tried disabling the firewall on my laptop but same. Also the same if I plugged the network cable from the NVR into the laptop instead - nothing on SADP.

Interestingly, if I put in the IP of any camera, it would come right up in a browser and I could log in as usual. So, I logged into my first camera, 192.168.0.11, and tried to change it to 192.168.254.11, in the hopes that the NVR would see it. Since the IPv4 Default Gateway of the camera was also set to 192.168.0.1, I changed it to 192.168.0.1. It asked if I wanted to reset the camera, and I did. Unfortunately now I can't connect to that camera; putting in the new IP brings up nothing. So looks like SADP might be the only hope of getting that camera back :)

Any ideas why SADP isn't showing anything and why almost everything is greyed out?

MANY thanks for the help and patience!

Well the plot thickens!! I redownloaded SADP and still nothing, but I downloaded Batch Config Tool and the newer three cameras showed up!! They are 3332s - the other three are 2332s. The camera whose IP I tried to change did show up, but I wasn't able to change it back. Interestingly the NVR (Hik 7608) didn't show up. I also tried HiTools but it couldn't see anything.

So I've read that I might need an older version of SADP - can anyone point me in the right direction?? I installed these in 2014/2015 so something around there hopefully ought to work. Thank you VERY much!!!

FIXED! Here's what I did in case any other idiots who have no idea what they're doing, like me, are in a similar situation.

I think I had several issues, and I'm not sure which one ended up doing it for me. Here's what I did:

Restarted both network switches and the router
Set all the subnets to 255.255.255.0 (several were on 255.255.0.0)
Turned on DHCP long enough for the NVR to assign itself 192.168.0.168 (which is great since my cameras are all 192.168.0.x)
Used an old version of SADP to get the IP of the one camera back to 192.168.0.x

Finally the NVR and three cameras showed up in SADP! But one kept coming in and out. I went to physically look at the network switch and noticed that a few of the ports in use didn't have a constantly working green light (I assume that's the activity light) - so I very scientifically moved them to other ports until the green light stayed active.

And now IT ALL WORKS! Hope you all have good luck with your issues as well!

Great!
Just in case one of those issues return it may be the mechanical movement of the cable (bad cable or RJ-45 crimp, oxidation of either the male or female RJ-45) when you moved it, plugged in/out, etc. and the issue was temporarily fixed; if so, you'll have to go to the next step BUT......if all good for the next week or two then congrats!
