Problem with Hybrid Light Camera

Hi All,

I recently upgraded the camera above my garage to a HiLook / Hikvision IPC-T240HA-LU. I've successfully got it connected to my Synology Surveillance station (despite the exact model number not being supported). So far so good.

My problem is that I am trying to set up the event detection so that the white light activates only on movement. Right now it's just on constantly and there is no actual setting within the web client to update or change it. The software references it by saying " Detection Target should be checked if you select Smart mode in Supplement Light Mode. " however there is no setting for Supplement Light Mode in the HiLook interface. I've found screen grabs of the Hikvision web interface and it seems to have the setting (see attached).

Does anyone have experience with the HiLook web interface? I was trying to see if there was an "expert" mode or something I'm missing however was unable to find it. I'm running firmware V5.8.4 build 240510

Appreciate any guidance on this one.

I was able to find some settings under Day/Night Switch under Image (so intuitive!). I've turned it to "On" and "Smart" so hopefully that will help. Not very intuitive user interface to say the least.

The web interface for this camera is beyond terrible. Completely astounded at how poor the functionality is. Sensitivity on the motion detection can only move in increments of 20. Getting so many false positives, even on 20. Go down to zero and I get ZERO motion detection. Supplement light mode seems to just stay on at times which leads to more bugs/moths and more false positives.

I wonder if it's possible to flash this HiLook with the Hikvision firmware?

As stated in another thread Hikvision is going out of their way to offer fake hybrid / human vehicle detection.

Meaning they have restricted what the end user can adjust / define.

It’s literally a bait & switch . . .

Unreal. I asked Hikvision support and the guy "robert" was honestly the most unhelpful excuse for support I've ever heard from. Guess he's just sick of getting the same thing over and over again....

For mine to do the hybrid illumination mode, this is what I do. "Smart Supplemental Light" is turned on. Under "Supplement Light Mode" there are three options. White supplemental light is meaning the white light is on. IR means the IR light (black/white). Off is no illumination. Smart is for the hybrid light mode. Keep in mind that you need to set a detection method to trigger the light to change. So what happens is that it is in IR (black/white) until the detection (motion/line crossing/intrusion/etc) triggers it to switch to color mode. When it is on color mode, the white light will turn on. Once the movement is gone then it will switch back to IR mode. So this in theory serves two purpose. One is to light up the area and get a color image, second is the white light turning on may cause the person to look up.... you get a good shot of the face and/or scares the personal away.
