Thought this might be interesting to some. This is my costs to upgrade so far. I might add an nVidia GTX750Ti if it shows a benefit. Processor is fluctuating between 35-37%. Jumps to 49-51% if running BB's "Better Display" on the local network. Remote phone apps seem to have very little effect? The 5 3mp cameras are running at 4096bps and 15fps. 4 analog at D1 and 15fps. I live in the "proverbial sticks", along with that comes a limited internet connection. I can now see where the Livestock are while at work using BI and a simple web page that updates every 5 minutes. www.crowderfarm.com. I'm very happy with the results and appreciate all the help I received from the forums. Thanks.

Very nice job, love the weather overlay and such on the cameras. Also, I've been in French Lick many times and am not very far away from you at all, just a little ways north, small world!

Great info on the usage of your hardware in BI, I do not use it but try to keep up with the general info on it just so I know other options.

The primary reason I'm using Blue Iris instead of other options is that I can record 24x7 with motion detection that actually works and my wife can walk up to the display wall in the dining room and just click clips and see whats been happening on the farm the entire day... Easy for her and the user interface is awesome. Weather overlay is built into Blue Iris Tools, an add-on app. Pretty sweet for home setups. Anyone can use this on first sight, once setup and working.

This is the perfect setup for between 4-6 IP 3mp cameras. Anymore then that is questionable.

I follow this just in case I get some smaller personal projects, or installing at the in laws or whatever. I'm up to 1,256 cameras as of yesterday and growing. I have 40 something sitting in boxes behind me staged to go out for expansions. BI is not going to work for me needless to say, but I like the option for recommending to others as I'm asked about what to use.

Motion detection on IP cameras has really stunk until I finally started using Hikvision cameras, that motion seems to work a million times better than other cameras I have used like ACTi and Axis. It is much more sensitive and I get much less falsing, all my recording is done on motion too so I can appreciate good functional motion detection, it seems BI has some very robust options and that is very cool.

I just hit retention today. I am getting 16 days, 8 hours. Recording continuously. All five 3mp cameras recording at 15fps and 4096 with four analog cameras recording at D1/15fps. Still 35-37% processor until I run UI2 on another machine which bumps it up to 49-51. Second iteration of UI2 on a third machine will take it up to 57-59... System is hyper stable. Hopefully Hardware acceleration will help off load encoding/decoding from the processor and help this out considerably.

Hint: never use over 80% of a drive to allow for the OS to defrag/optimize the drive. A 4tb drive has 3.63tb of usable space, I'm using around 2.9tb.

With the latest update, 4.2.8.0 I am running at between 19-23% with the same setup. Pretty amazing... :)
