Trying to connect an unpowered mic to the PTZ and not having any luck....Connected the ground wire from the mic to the black ground wire on the PTZ....Then the Audio wire from the mic to the white "audio in" wire on the PTZ...All I hear is a loud buzzing noise. Does Dahua not handle unpowered mics or am I doing something wrong? For the record, I tried the same mic on the Huisun mini-ptz and the audio works fine.

I believe the majority (if not all) of the Dahua cameras expect input from a powered microphone.

there's a setting that controls the type of mic input passive mic or amplified mic.

Haven't been able to find it on this cam...Under the audio section, the only option is "line in". It also has a "microphone volume" lever, which I assumed you'd need to crank up to amplify an unpowered mic...but I'm not even getting a faint sound (other than an extremely loud buzzing sound)..

Not sure why the "mic" option isn't there on mine...Wonder if I go to the API codes if I could force it to take a value of "Mic" since it isn't available on the user interface.

What I posted was straight from dahuawiki

Looks like your model only supports powered line level mics which work better anyways. This isn't purely software, some hardware is required.

What happens if you tick the boxes for "Main Stream" and "Sub Stream"?

Hmm, I was originally under the impression that the powered mics sent the same "type" of signal but were just hardware amplified to give better quality, where the unpowered gave unamplified sound that required poorer-quality digital amplification in the software. Perhaps I misunderstood, though...

I did that when testing. That's when I heard the buzzing sound.
