If you have drilled holes already check to see how many are solid and how many hit a void. I'm not very good a what screws are better than others but it may help to go to hardware store and tell them how many are solid and how many are hitting the voids. let them help you pick out whats best for the weight and conditions. Take your drill bit with you that you used.

This may not need to be said, but;
You're using carbide tipped masonry drill bits, correct?
Don't press so hard you overheat the drill's tip.
It's okay to use water to keep the hole and bit cool while drilling.
Drill a smaller pilot hole first.
Then check the geometry of the holes, in case the bit drifted as it was drilling.
Like Nick87080 said, bring the bit to the store. AND bring the wall anchors you already have on hand.
You can put a bend in a piece of wire or coat hanger to check for voids, hole depth, etc. It's doubtful you drilled all the waay through, and caused a blowout at the back (shortening the round portion of the circular hole)
