Question regarding resale value for 2mp Starlight cameras that are almost 3-4 years old

Is it worth selling used cameras this old, seeing that they have been exposed to the elements for quite a while now? Or should they be passed onto others out of goodwill?
I recently retired a few old 2mp Starlight fixed turrets; these were popular back in 2017-19 until the 4mp Starlight cameras started coming about. These models were hugely praised by folks like nayr

Any opinions?

I'm so cheap I squeak sitting still but I'd be more inclined to give them away. Problem with that can be you become tech support for them.

That's true, I gave my neighbor a couple of the 4K fixed-lens turret cameras, and he wasn't able to initialize them on his Lorex NVR. So I have to take a laptop over his place one of these days to initialize them  Although, he could benefit from the 2mp starlight cameras. Can't chase after the megapixels. The IR on 4mp bullet Lorex cameras are awful. I thought he could resell those Lorex cameras but eBay shows $40-$60 per piece if anyone shows interest. However, I think more and more people are realizing that those rebranded models are poorly regarded too. They should just be tossed into an electronics recycling depot.

Although used and older, they are still better than some brand new consumer grade junk one can buy right now LOL :lmao:

Giving them away to a neighbor works as that basically extends the perimeter of your system.

But if you put them for sale here, I bet someone would buy them. I think like a year ago someone posted same vintage for sale and I think half of it sold before he decided to take the rest down and give to a family member.

Now is it worth the hassle and effort for the asking price is up to you LOL.

That's a good point, and it mutually benefits the area too. However, I should pass them along on the day he actually decides to install them. I don't want to see them sitting in the corner collecting dust. :(

I always keep one fixed and one varifocal model as a backup in case a camera fails :D

Exactly. I have set up two neighbors with camera systems and they expand the range of coverage. Some of their cameras cover my house.
