Recommendatio for a new Xmas Laptop for Mrs. Q™

Guys, any recommendations for a new Win10 laptop for Mrs. Q™?

I want her to have an SSD and 8GB ram, minimum. She runs Excel, Word, Firefox and Outlook.

She totes it around from school to school for work, so it needs to be a tad rugged.

$1,000.00 is the budget.

Any and all recommendation greatly appreciated!

I bought this one for work/home use and I love it. It's the best laptop I've ever used...

Note that the new laptops with the 8th gen i5 will be about 30-40 percent more powerful, not that she needs it, but the 7th gen should be discounted...
you dont mention screen size....this samsung laptop has a 15 inch screen yet is much lighter than most 13 inch systems...its a bit over budget but Mrs Q deserves it...she puts up with you...Samsung15

Note that these units are 7th generation....so will likely drop further in price and a new units will soon be available with either gen, though she likely would not notice the difference...

Forgot to mention that both units support charging via usb-c cable (not sure if a standard phone power supply is sufficient though)....also the 15 inch is 2.6 pounds and the 13.3 is 1.8 pounds..

If you want rugged, Dell Latitude is more rugged than most. If a refurb would be ok, dell outlet business currently has a lot things marked down with good options starting around $700.

I personally have an xps 15 9550 but I can tell you that samsung is a much nicer system and at almost half the weight...you are correct, its not rugged, but its light and really really nice...
