Currently have an older Axis dome on the wall and would like to replace with something modern. Facial Recognition is a must. Would like to send auto alerts like "Bill is at the house"
POE is also preferred.
I have a Dahua camera, happy to add to the family or go in a different direction if others have better Facial Recognition
I use a synology for recording but if a NVR is required would get that as well.
Thanks for any recommendations.

Most of us have found that facial recognition is more gimmicky and novelty than anything else. If you have to put in 5 or 10 or 15 or 35 pictures of yourself in the system for it to recognize it is you...then you shouldn't expect much.... My success rate was under 5% so I moved on to other things LOL.

It can work in certain situations like a business that requires everyone to stop in front of the camera and the camera is at head height. Outside of that, the percentage of being accurate is probably not going to be super high. You may have better luck with it at the Front door if it is about 5 feet high with lots of light and not a lot of shadows on the face.

Someone here posted once how horrible it was inside his house identifying his neighbors and others as him.

Unless you spend the big bucks that casinos and airports have LOL.

Heck even in ideal situations like a business with the camera at ideal height and optimal lighting it fails....

Consumer grade facial recognition is nothing like you see on TV or the movies. It might get there one day, but take everyone's advice and don't bother with it. You end up spending a lot of time and money on a project that won't reliably identify anyone 95% of the time.

You can certainly try it out with Deepstack or similar AI programs, but consider yourself warned.
