Recording file size issues

Hello, I have been searching the forum for weeks, but still don't have an answer to my issue, so I am posting my first time.

I have a multiple IP camera system that works great thanks to the knowledge I gained from here, but my recording quality and Bytes/Hr per camera sucks.

When I hook one camera up and set it to h264+, it records at 3.36gb/hr, but with more cameras connected, the quality is visually worse and the storage goes to less than 2gb/hr all the time and as little as 400mb/hr for each camera.

Cameras are Hikvision domes, 3 are 5mp and 1 is 4mp. Computer is an old 775 processor but coy usage is usually less than 20% and it does the same thing on my I7 computers also.

I was thinking network bandwidth, but I have one run directly to a dual nic card in my pc, with the others to an 8 port Poe switch. No matter what combination I try, 2 or more cameras reduce quality.

- Have you tried putting several cameras on the switch and none on the 2nd nic?
- Is the switch managed or unmanaged?
- How does the switch get connected to the PC (i.e. is there a router)?

I think I found the problem, or at least one of them. I had h265+ turned on. Once I turned it off, the quality returned to normal and the bitrate is back to 1mb/s. If I go down to h264 the bitrate is the same, which I find odd. So, I'll just keep the "+" off for now.

I also figured out that I had hardware acceleration turned on and it was causing loss of signal issues with one camera, and since the current computer is not quicksync compatible, it should have been off anyway.

H.264+ and 265+ are proprietary to the manufacturer... won't work with BI

So...I guess the "+" side of h265 just has some kinks in my cameras. I upgraded the firmware to the latest, but still no h265+ for me. 3.36gb/hr on 6 cameras isn't bad when you have 32tb of storage. Lol

Now...to get these headlight false triggers under control.
