Recording to SD and NVR, can configure all directly from NVR?

I’d like to use endurance rated SD cards for a backup option. And then also record to our NVR. Can this be setup from the NVR itself? Or do we have to manage to local SD storage camera by camera?

If there is a problem with the SD storage, does that show up as a notification on the NVR?
