So Im now up to speed on the nvidia cuda issues. Great to see that its working, sad to hear its not very efficient.

This brings be back to my NVR thread i posted a few weeks ago. They use DSP chips specifically for low power decoding. I was wondering if there was anything like this in the computer world, and I did remember the redrocket decoder card used for decoding Red Raw camera data. Looks like a gpu, fits in a PCIE slot, but ONLY does decoding. And its pretty dang fast at it.

That card is priced insanely, but it got me wondering if there was any other cards out there that were cheaper that might work. unfortunately I couldnt find any with a brief google search. Does anyone here know of one? even it it's a few years old? and if we do find some, would you guys be willing to pay for the "upgrade" to BI to use it? I would be perfectly happy kicking out some cash for the ability to use a DSP specific card. If hundreds of others do it, might make it worth the time to Code.
