I just refurbished an old i5-2400 system with the following spare parts i had and planning on 2-4 2MP PoE Cameras.
Intel Core i5-2400
16GB of RAM
180GB SSD
2TB Storage (3x 1TB HDD of a iRST Raid 5)
Win10 Pro 64bit
RAID Supported MB
Basically an old system I had laying around and spare 1TB drives.
I was wondering if I should do the following.
1. Leave the RAID 5 as is for 2TB worth of Space for now, writes are like 20MB/s after leveling out.
2. Make a Raid 1 or Raid 10
3. Leave them in non RAID and have 3 1TB HDDs
4. Scrap them all and just buy 2x4TB of RED/Purples
What I don't know is how HDD Space is handled with Blue Iris as I haven't played with it yet. For example can I just tell Blue Iris to use all 3 drives for storage and it will fill up each one as they get full? Or I can only assign a single path or drive for the data.
I want to reuse as much of the existing HDDs if possible as i rather spend money on better Cameras.
Any feedback on this matter would be great.
