Review-Dahua/EmpireTech Dual lens IPC-HDBW5441F-AS-E2 (The Boobie Cam Upgrade)

. . .
Recorded and exported from Blue Iris, let me know if I missed anything.
Please include text/ascii version of Blue Iris stream profiles Main / Sub / Audio
I'm currently looking for them, as the BI automagic setup did not detect them properly.

Thank you!

ANSWER: BI automagic setup does not work unless you use the 'admin' user logon.
I was using my non-admin privileged username/login, and it was not working.

Observations after installing:
Replacing the old 4231 wedge was simple. Worst issue was fitting the cover on the camera. That sucker fits TIGHTLY over the cameras. Also, when attempting to remove the cover, that tight fit can be a problem. Finally, the trim/adjustment rings around each camera are somewhat difficult to re-install. Better than flopping around loose, I suppose.

Initial images (still got tweaking/setup to do later):
It's a cloudy/overcast day, otherwise the color would look quite a bit better.

Have one of these cameras and was trying to upgrade the firmware. Downloaded the files from the EmpireTech website (Download Firmwares). There are two firmwares listed for the IPC-E541F-E2-AS, one with Smart IR, one without. The firmware without Smart IR loaded to the camera with no issues. However, the firmware with Smart IR will not load. In the camera's log I just get a message that the upgrade failed.

Anyone get the firmware update to work? Things I should try?

Didn't work for me either. If you need SmartIR, better to stay with the existing firmware.

Personally, the internal reflections (from dome) degrade the image so much that I turn the IR illumination off and piggy-back on illumination from other nearby (turret style) cameras. But I'm using my boobie cam for wide-area surveillance

Anyone know the CURL URL for changing day/night mode on channel 1? The standard URL (below) appears to change channel 2 but not channel 1.

DAY - user:password@192.168.0.1/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&VideoInMode[0].Config[0]=0
NIGHT - user:password@192.168.0.1/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&VideoInMode[0].Config[0]=1

I searched this thread and the day/night utility thread and couldn't find.

NVM = found it here:

Is this still the "go to" multi sensor camera that isn't $500+? Need one for indoor retail space. Ideally, I'd like 4 sensors but 2 will also work.

What physical orientation should the boobie cam HDBW5441F-AS-E2 be installed in?
I have it as pictured and the time overlay from the cam is (was) upside down.
I found my way to the option in the GUI to flip the image and mirror-image it, and the end state looks fine.
But it got me wondering if I have it installed upside down physically.
It is on a temporary rig so easy enough to flip it, and when I get around to the final install (soon!) I'll install it correctly.

I'm having issues getting IVS to work on both streams with this cam. IVS works perfectly fine on Steam 1. It triggers and sends ONVIF events to BI with no issue.. However, on Steam 2, IVS doesn't work at all. Even on the liveview of the cam using IE and the old plugin, Steam 2 doesn't even show my IVS rule being enabled on the screen. It does show it enabled on Steam 1 when I click over to that stream.

I've reduced the FPS down to 10 thinking maybe the cam was getting bogged down but I don't think that is it. It doesn't appear that IVS on Stream 2 is even active from what I can tell. Anyone else have issues getting IVS to work on both streams? I'm using the latest version of Andy's FW for this cam. It's dated 3/2024.

Well I figured it out. I didn't have IVS enabled on Channel 2. Didn't even see the drop down menu. Bah!

Yes you should be able to use it with heat one camera, but at that point why buy this one and not a better camera?

Both cameras communicate over a single ethernet cable. So if one slot refers to the ethernet interface it will support both cameras (unless the NVR software is maxed out).

Yes, But already 7 cameras on 8 camera NVR. Was wondering if I use a Booby cam on 8th slot, If it will be ok and just show me the first lens?

Probably depends on NVR. Just try it and see. Some will decode two cams on the same IP and some won't (I assume). Initially Blue Iris would only "see" one of the cameras but a software update allowed it to see both.
