The Driveway to the right of the cam is very dark to the naked eye. Most of the street directly in front of the cam is also very dark to the naked eye.

First house to the right with a porch light on, that's a single 60watt bulb.
The next house to the right, that is two 75w equal LED flood lights.
Next two houses, single porch light.

Again, the light coming from the the left of my driveway is 7.5watts of LED light in a post lamp.

All camera settings at factory default.

    B&W at night.
It is not seeing the IR that I have in the front yard, that is why I assume it has no IR cut filter.
The color video to me is better than the B&W

Only reason I don't hate domes now, is because of my new mini ptz and I can get factory direct replacements. I tell anyone that uses domes, pre-order how ever many you think you might need upfront and store them away.

Here is a sneak peek. The lighting on my driveway (left side of pic) is 7.5 watts of LED light in a post lamp.

No, sorry. The b&w shots are from a 5231z at the side of house for comparison sake.

So it has no built-in IR at all, right? Does it have an IR-cut filter and respond to IR (if using exeternal IR)?... thanx.

No IR built in. And there is no IR cut filter.
I played with a night settings and that's the best I could come up with.

so IR doesn't help it at night? it relies solely only on visible light?...

if IR makes any difference to the night picture, then it must be IR-sensitive, and if that's the case,
it must have an IR-cut filter for the daytime, or the daytime colors would be off (pink/purple-ish),
unless they've come up with some way to do that in software to save the cost of a HW IR filter. hm...

the specs for color mode do look impressive, 5x more sensitive than the 5231 and 2231.
Does it seem to live up to that, in your experience? thanx.

I know my 22204TNI 2MP Starlight mini ptz has an ir cut filter even though it doesn't have ir. I tested it and the camera does switch to b/w and remains to give a nice clear picture.

This kind of cam suits for the area with good light place and can show up the color pic, the sensors is very good, i think one day the cams can work real good at star light without any IR light. This cam not suits for the totally dark places.
