Thanks to @EMPIRETECANDY once again for furnishing this camera for fair and honest review.

I have the 2.8mm version, it is also optionally available as a 3.6mm or 6mm lens.

4MP IR Fixed-focal Eyeball Network Camera
  • 4-MP 1/1.8" CMOS image sensor, low luminance, and high definition image.
  • Outputs max. 4 MP (2688×1520) @25/30fps
  • Built-in IR LED, and the max. illumination distance is 50 m.
  • ROI, SVC, SMART H.264+/H.265+, AI H.264/H.265, encoding after filter, flexible coding, applicable to various bandwidth and storage environments.
  • Rotation mode, WDR, 3D NR, HLC, BLC, digital watermarking, applicable to various monitoring scenes.
  • With deep learning algorithm, it supports: video metadata, smart sound detection, IVS, face detection, smart object detection, and people counting, etc.

Yeah we really need this and if possible vs 4kt. IR is ok but B&W really has a negative effect on identification.

Colour makes such a difference if it's possible to run it at high shutters with only a little additional light. ie 300-400 lumens.

This would be very interesting to see. Based on specs, the 581R is so close in light sensitivity that there's hardly any difference.

541R: 0.0007 lux color
0.0004 lux B/W

581R: 0.0008 lux color
0.0004 lux B/W (same sensitivity with IR lighting!)

For comparison, the 4k/x spec is 0.0005 lux color

Keep in mind that @EMPIRETECANDY is referring to the S3 model of the 4KT camera, not the 58IR camera.

I compared the 54IR and 58IR in this thread and showed that the difference between the two is a lot larger than the LUX ratings...

Mini-Review - 5842-Z4E-S3 AKA B58IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5842-Z4E (8MP on the 1/1.8" sensor)

Given the improvements that Dahua has made with the 5442 S3 series and the incredible night performance improvements, time to see if putting 8MP on the same size sensor results in a degradation or improved performance, so compliments of @EMPIRETECANDY we have one to do a side-by-side comparison...
