Recorded and exported from Blue Iris.
All settings at factory defaults, except time and channel name

I have now tested the AI portion of the cam by using IVS and Automobile (filtering out humans)
Then changed from automobile to humans (filtering out cars) and it works as designed in my non scientific setup.
IE: When setup to detect cars, I can walk through the scene and it does not record me.
When set to only humans, it doesn't pickup cars traveling through the scene.
AI Test..PNG

Night video.
IR and 7.5 watt led post lamp on, then with post lamp off, IR on...factory defaults
Weird noise's in the audio is because I failed to turn off the audio noise filter.

Variety of combos, Ir on/off. Auto setting/manual shutter and gain settings. Forced color/bw.

Thanks Looney, looking forward to seeing night video and as more versions of them (Starlight +) are released, I.e varifocal and motorized zoom bullets etc IR version. Andy may be able to chime in here but curious if the lineup may be available with a black finish? My guess is the Starlight+ will be the go to series as time marches on. This particular camera may possibly be a choice for an entry cam at front door?

Right now only bullet and dome cams has motorized lens, this camera bit small, so hard to use motorized lens, same size of IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE
Ah! Now I feel quite a bit better about having just taken delivery of a 5231 :) I haven't used the varifocal on any of mine yet, but I plan to on at least one. Maybe even all three.

Everyone should own at least one varifocal to help getting their correct fov for the fixed cameras they buy in the future.. Great tool

Thanks for the review Loony

While these new cameras don't fit the old junction boxes we used with the 5231's, am I correct in thinking they will fit the Wall Mount Brackets that were used with the 5231 cams? PFB203W

Also, do you have to have a special NVR to use the AI features of the camera?

Where are the NIGHT videos!
Sheesh, give the guy a chance!

These reviews take quite a few days to produce and will be updated as and when the footage is available

I for one am grateful that any footage is posted when available else we’d be waiting even longer for a complete review with all the test footage.

@looney2tns

In another review it was mentioned that this new cam can be mounted into the old surround for the 5231 which would/could mean that the exiting junction box could be used. Is this something that you can maybe check/test as I’d want to simply swap a 2 for a 4 without hopefully having to replace the junction box as well.

Does anyone have any details about the new sensor so I can research some of the technical specs and differences to the previous Sony Starvis? It's quite impressive to claim a 2x resolution increase and x3 low light sensitivity.
