had a question in regards to running cable that is far from the cameras

1. what is max length the cable can go without having issues from the POE switch to the camera
2. if i have multiple cameras in similar location is there anyway not to run 1 cable per camera ? or to run one cable to a switch of some sort, and run the additional cables from there

I've done #2 above - it just seemed to work out better for me, that way the long run is to the switch and from that switch, the runs to the cameras are manageable. I believe the max length for a run is 100 meters for ethernet.

so you ran one cable to a POE switch, and from there ran to each camera?
My stuff will be on roof so i assume id have to a secure box of some sort (to protect from weather, animals and people) and the run from there to each camera ?
what kind of POE switch did you use ?

Correct. I like Ubiquiti's Unifi switch line. I do have some Netgear POE switches as well.
