SD59230U-HNI Spazzing out when trying IVS?

Are you both on SD59230s?

It's probably worth adding the temperature on screen as well as the clock just in case the fans have packed in or something.

This is one of the reasons I like managed switches as you get port stats and can easily see if it's something wrong at that level.

No I'm on SD59225U-HNI

I actually do run a managed switch which to my limited knowledge isn't showing and problem at that level
 
I'm not a gambling man but if I had to put a wager on this I would point towards firmware bugs.

My PTZ does work still but I have noticed that it seems slower and more finicky since updating to the latest firmware.
 
Have you both turned on OSD clock and temperature as initial troubleshooting?

And you're both on the latest firmware Andy posted (Kamakzie I can see you are)

I don't get these lockups - I bought my 59225 from a UK reseller in early 2018 to get free Dahua training (which I never used come to think of it) and the PTZ1A225 was from Andy. Both running the same main system firmware (not PTZ firmware as they're different on those two cameras) in the link above and no video lockups with my IVS config I mentioned earlier.

Saying that though I'm in the UK but that is a combined firmware - I do have it in NTSC mode though from when I was testing 30fps but my video settings are as below nowadays with no lock ups.

I know some firmwares you can't rollback from but have you tried rolling back to what you're saying was a working firmware for you and trying that?
 
I turned on the timestamp and I turned on the temperature to get a reading which was 47 Celsius but I couldn't make myself keep that on LOL. I'm not sure if the firmware I had initially is still available or not. It was dated 12/5/2018 I believe. I haven't actually updated the PTZ firmware just the main firmware. I keep my frame rate at 60 frames because of wildlife movements.

Yeah I'm in the UK it was purchased from Andy.

I am on that latest firmware, haven't enabled the OSD though.

Wouldn't have thought these temps in the UK would cause issues Haha

Oh and I'm running mine at 15 FPS
 
I just tried emulating your settings and set up a tripwire auto tracking. As you will see my results are kind of laughable. Perhaps it's because birds are too small to accurately track?

Your zoomed too far out to even attempt to track those birds because they are so small.

My camera won't even do that it just stutters and freezes.

I'm starting to think there is a hardware fault with my camera because it's way worse than that
I can't even pan and tilt properly
 
I just tried again with failure. I think I will just wait until there is a new firmware.

 
OK that's two different problems - video lockups like you were having and IVS working randomly are two very different things.

If it's autotracking working randomly then yes the newer firmwares definitely seem to get confused at times with it seeming to have a dodgy alhorithm with autotracking guessing where something is going and panning right past objects and getting into a tailspin.

It definitely seems to work better in some environments than others!

I've changed my cam to 60fps to see if it starts to show the lockups you were seeing Kamakzie.

What is your ambient temperature where you are to be getting 50c readings? The reason I'd asked for the temperature was to see if we could confirm the fans are working in case that causes lockups.

My 1A225 has gone up to 90c twice now and B&W mode but that is a firmware bug as a quick power cut and things are back to normal although I've never seen that on the 59225

That's a good point though actually - sometimes when these things get confused a full power cut to the camera is a better place to start than just a soft reboot and on these PTZ cameras I have a daily reboot set otherwise things do sometimes go very wrong too so maybe think about that.

I've got some older firmwares dating back to 2017 you're more than welcome to try from the time I've had the PTZ - you may not be able to go all the way backwards as sometimes they stop you rolling too far back but they're all here.

Some of those are compressed rar or zip files so would need uncompressing before sending to the camera (not wanting to teach either of you to suck eggs but I don't know who else will download those and try and load them on the cameras)
 
Thanks I downloaded those. What one would you recommend. It was around 80°F here today. I didn't even know this camera had a fan LOL!
 
It's trial and error with firmwares, you really need to try and see what works best for your circumstances.

Just to confirm, after changing my camera to 60fps I've had dropped frames so I've returned to 15fps, hoping that problem goes away but as the camera was following things there is 5 seconds or so of missing video in BI and I just see that as video jumps in UI3.

Saying that I've just checked the footage saved on the microSD and it's all there so there are two possibilities - the 60fps footage isn't getting off the camera quick enough or BI isn't saving for whatever reason (maybe a corrupt video stream is sent).

It may be worth you testing with VLC instead of BI to prove whether the video is being sent off in the stream, unfortunately I'm stacked for the next couple of weeks so haven't got time myself to sit and troubleshoot that to work out which part of the stack has the issue.

I went back to the previous version December 5, 2018. I will keep it there for now. Temperature is 40°C

Thanks for putting this up there. When I get home from work I'll switch on the odd for the temp.

Whilst these soind like different issues I'm not entirely sure they are.

The auto tracking does spaz out but I don't really use it.
I'm running at 15FPS and get massive dropouts and freezes both directly at the camera and in BI and a NVR.
Now I don't have a sd card in the camera to test as you have done and to be honest I'm not really wanting to be dangling from a ladder with this thing to get one inserted as it's quite high up.

My issues started with the very same firmware that introduced the SFA (I think it is) for the faster focus.

Before that everything was fine.

The issue seems to be specifically when there is lots of on scene movement or i ptz the camera quite quickly (like more than a few clicks of any direction at a time)

I first noticed it was doing this when a ivs rule was tripped and the camera was responding to that ivs request.

I've changed my cabling out for new solid core cat5e cable to eliminate that.

I've also for testing removed all other cameras from the network to eliminate a network bottleneck somewhere.

It just all seems a little too coincidental to me
