Hi everyone, I have seven cameras and an NVR, all purchased through EmpireTech on Amazon. They are all running the [I think] latest firmware:
  • Cameras: IPC-T2231T-ZS, firmware 2.820.0000000.48.R, Build Date: 2022-06-14
  • NVR: NVR5208-4KS2, firmware V4.001.0000006.1, Build Date: 2021-07-09

I have all the standard settings (live/sub/recording) working as expected, but I can't seem to get motion to show up in the NVR. Here are the camera settings:

The NVR records (there are a few gaps at the end when I was changing settings), but I never see any yellow for motion:

What am I missing? Is there anything I need to change or enable for it to work? Thanks!

Have you actually enable motion detection in the section where you set the recording period?
Not sure, but I think the green lines show it's enabled? I can draw throughout the day:

Or let's say I start with this:

If I check Mon (for some reason I can't uncheck Sun?) and then check the first period I end up with:

Not super intuitive, but I think it's on. All green was also the default and I hadn't changed it yet.

Oh, I see. I thought the "Setting" buttons on the right weren't doing anything, but when I click one it updates below. For example, I clicked Setting for Wed and it updated the checkbox and times below:

One other thought, I can change other settings from the NVR:

But I don't see the motion settings in the NVR. I updated those directly in the cameras. So maybe the NVR doesn't support it?

On the Record Schedule of your NVR, make sure you are setup to record Motion

Mine is older fw but should be something like this. Storage>>Shcedule

NVR-Record-schedule.jpg

Dont make camera setting changes on the NVR. Make ALL changes available on the Camera. Use the NVR for setting recording schedule, Network, etc

Wouldn't that only record when there is motion? Maybe that's what I'm missing. I was expecting/hoping to be able to record continuously but mark when there was motion.
Do both.
It will record continuously and mark movement detections.

I meant as mentioned above to do BOTH.
note on my example I’m recording 4 types of recordings. If you don’t select to record MD on the NVR schedule, the camera will sense it but the NVR won’t record it.

Once you are recording MD you’ll see the yellow hash marks on the green full time recording timeline

Got it, the dropdown I had previously seen only let me select one:

But in storage I can add motion (and alarm while I'm at it):

I'm already seeing some yellow markers:

I'll keep an eye on it, but I think that's what I was missing. Thanks!
