I can't see the point, especially since there are windows left and right with no such protection. Going through a window would be the easiest way in here.
As others pointed out, from a true burglary security perspective, it doesn't address the much easier path of breaking a window.
At first glance, I like it in the sense that it does cut the risk from the latest youth TikTok challenge; a nasty variant of "ding-ding ditch", where instead of ringing the bell, they bang violently on the front door before escaping (usually on electric bikes, which are in most cases really electric motorcycles, no pedals). Ask me how I know about this crap: I've had it happen several times over the last year.
However, upon rereading your post, I noticed the part about already having a locking laminated glass screen in front of the door. That alone could be a deterrent to the above behavior, so ultimately, the gate is probably unneeded. It's up to you whether you want the "defense in depth" visual posture, vs. the day-to-day inconvenience.

I'd take the gate down and get that lizard to protect the front door. Keep it in a little house at face height. Any unwanted intruders can have their faces eaten.
I'd fire that Carolina anole (American chameleon) lizard you hired to protect the front door....it failed to turn black like the gate, enabling stealth mode.
Like the ones here in 'Bama, probably wants more than minimum wage.
So my main reason for keeping the gate and not removing it before was to prevent the type of attack where some random person, usually a young girl or whatever knocks on the door asking for help, and there are a bunch of guys around the corner who bust down the door once you open it
However, I am no longer married, and I was mostly worried about my wife being victim to such a situation. I of course would just see them all on my cameras, or just never answer the door anyway
It does provide a good place to talk to irate people with a physical barrier. However, being that we're on my property, if someone wants to physically assault me, I'd be happy to put them in the black trash bag along with the raccoons that keep climbing on my roof
Based on some of your posts over the last few years regarding neighborhood events and your subsequent active particpiation with your local LEO, I'd keep the gate as is....just my 2 cents since you asked.
