I have a Synology DS918+ with 6 cameras. I had a porch pirate steal a package and couldn't see his face clearly because when originally installed, I didnt configure the cameras for high definition. I have increased the definition of the cameras but now when navigating through my files, it is very laggy. What recommendations do you all have for me? Is the DS918+ too weak for 6 cameras? should I add more ram? the resource monitor shows cpu at 6% and ram at 17%. I currently have 4- 4TB drives in an SHR (one volume). should I create two separate volumes (2 drives in raid 1 configuration for data and another 2 drives in raid 1 configuration for my cameras)?

more questions
1) what make and model for the cameras?
2) what is frame size?
3) what is frame rate?
4) what is Iframe value?
5) are you using VBR or CBR ?
6) what is Max bit rate?
7) are you using wifi for your cameras ?

On top of these important questions:
8) what is your network configuration? 10mbit? 100mbit? 1000mbit? Auto negotiated? Full duplex somewhere?
9) how are you browsing these files? SMB? NFS?
10) are jumbo frames enabled? If yes, what size?
11) what is the load of your Synology? Show a graph with cpu/mem/disk
12) what does the bandwidth monitoring in your Synology tell you?
13) show specs of your NAS: hdd with 5400 rpms or SSD are a world of difference
14) what is your network MTU? Hardcoded? Auto?

Thanks!
