Hello guys,

How do I set a tripwire that will turn on the smart illumination function on my DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV? I would like the smart dual light to turn on when they enter the intrusion zone. thank you.

Set it on the actual camera GUI - Smart Illumination

So the more I think about it, its not really linked to the Tripwire.... hmmm and SMD is NOT enabled. So is SmartIlluminator really AI Smart by itself?

As my camera is facing towards a busy street and I only would like my camera going off when someone enters my property. Do you mean the smart illuminator could not be triggered by a tripwire but only by motion detection?

As far as I know, the smart illumination is triggered by SMD - Smart motion detection.
You could try reducing the zone to only your property.

SMD is linked to regular motion detection's region settings.

I can assure you MD and SMD are OFF on mine and it triggers when I walk into view and one of 3 IVS rules trips.

Now I can't be sure whether the IVS rule itself is tripping it. Let me turn those off and try

Just did.

IVS - Off
MD/SMD- Off

Smart illumination- On

White light trips on when I enter camera view from 12 ft away

I set everything on the camera. Now let me go check settings on the NVR (7 year old 5216-16p-4KS2E)

Standby

No SMD No IVS enabled on camera
No SMD or IVS enabled on the NVR

Light still comes on when I enter the camera view from 12ft

AND…….
I just set Smart Illumination Target to “Vehicle” and turned OFF Human, and it no longer trips when I walk into view.

I can only deduce that Smart Illumination is its own independent AI feature ….

Which is news to me. But I have to believe my own lying eyes at this point

oh I have tried turning them off but they turn back on. I will try adjusting the MD zone and see if it will help with the smart illumination.

Turn them off on the camera GUI and then go make sure they are OFF on the NVR GUI

You have to run a filter either Human or Vehicle. Wont let you have both unchecked.

So check both, then uncheck Human and Save. (or vice versa if you only want Human)

Following an email sent to Dahua UK, I can confirm you COULD NOT set zones for the smart illuminator. As I quote from the technical support, ‘At night whenever there is a movement in the field of view the while light comes on’

It’s kind of a shame tho, it would be extremely useful if that feature could be implemented to allow detection zones to be set like IVS.

Agreed and that’s how I originally thought it worked because my IVS rules encompass most all of the visible area.

But then I discovered in testing as a result of this thread, and described in detail in my posts here, that it acts more like SMD, activated by the entire FOV (though much less sensitive at distances past about 15-20 ft than SMD thankfully).

Another discovery I’ve made: It seems like SMD and video detection zones will work with TIOC PRO’s smart illumination

At 25:23 he touches on this.

Problem is, mine clearly activates without MD/SMD enabled.

I'll test that tonight and see if I can restrict activation to a MD defined area with SMD on.

I have HDW3449H-AS-PV-PRO
