I had a win11 crash lately and needed to re-install everything.
I stikk used the old smartPSS but now that is obsolete and I downloaded he latest smart PSSlite from Dahua.
It installed fine, at lest it reported succes but on launching nothing is visible.
only a smartpss service.

Is there a better free alternative that I could try

It works fine.
You have to add the NVR or cameras manually under “Devices”

It works a bit it takes more than 4 minutes to start.
I know how to add my NVR but even after doing so it take minutes to start.
right after clinking I see in the services smarttPSS lite but apart from that nothing on the screen
After forgetting it doing something else suddenly the program opens. and it works but in this way quite useless
tried reinstalling but does not change

I have dozens of installations that dont do that. You have some other problem

How did you add your NVR? by IP or P2P? If P2P by serial number or QR code?
Are you connecting to an NVR on your home internal LAN network?

I didi a clean install of smartpsslite.
The first time when i start it it takes already minutes before I saw anything on the screen.
I could configure it to connect to the NVR, ( local LAN and IP address) I saw the live images..
closed the app.
Later tried to open it again but even after 20 minutes nothing on screen also when I tries starting the app again.
Never had such issues with the old app.

hmmmm

I would check your AntiVirus, Windows firewall etc.

I've never seen that sorry. Maybe someone else has this experience...?

On your computer with the rebuilt Windows 11 operating system, have you tried to log in to your cameras with a web browser to view live video and look at the camera configuration?

I use Microsoft Edge to do this. The first time I tried to directly access a camera via IP address, the browser let me in, but the camera messaged I needed to download and install a web plug in application to make changes. Have you installed the web plug in application? After the plug in application was installed, when I directly access the camera with Edge, Windows asks for permission to use the web server application.

My Smart PSS Lite does not have the same startup issues you are describing. However, I have a mix of 2- and 7-year-old Dahua cameras. The Smart PSS Lite easily provides access to live videos from all the cameras. It will not allow me to access stored video on the camera memory cards in the older cameras. It will allow access to the videos on the newer cameras. You definitely need to go through the settings section on the Smart PSS Lite application. After the cameras are configured, the as installed defaults do not get you very far for viewing and monitoring.

I have the older Smart PSS program installed on a different Windows 11 machine and it works without issue. Providing access to stored videos on all cameras. Nothing other than the default Windows Defender anti-virus installed on either machine.

Hi with the web browser there is no problem.

The older smartpss always worked the new one sucks for me. Even when running after starting , after some time it gets non responsive.
All my gear is a few years old all dahua stuff bought via Andy..
The camera's and NVR work although the NVR is pretty noisy, it is running for at least 3 years continous appart from some power outage,
Smart triggering is not what I expected. Missing events when going from one cam to another
