So I managed to get my cameras to output to my NAS instead of burning through SDcards, BUT...
Is there a way to access these files through some kind of interface to scrub through and find events,
or am I stuck just poking random semi-cryptically named .dav files to find the right 'bit' of recording?

The camera interface seems to be a one way street;

And it doesn't seem like SmartPSS is playing ball either,
even when I do point its local folder to the NAS share.

Is there another Dahua app that can help with that?

I'm a Blue Iris VMS on PC user here but if you get no other or better suggestions:

Can you copy the .dav files over to your computer off your NAS first? If so, consider the Amcrest Smart Player here.

It will not play directly from your NAS.
