Stars in newest UI3 GUI

What is with the blue stars in the alerts in the newest version of the UI3 GUI.
A quick search of the readme did not reveal anything.

First thought is that they are annoying.

Not sure but they seem to indicate new alerts.

New alerts since you last looked at that camera, as with most things in UI3, this can be turned off in UI3 settings.
