Start recording before motion?

Ive been using BI for over a year now and love it! Worth every penny. New to the forum tho... So Hey!

I remember the physical DVR that I had before I setup BI allowed me to start recording 5 seconds before motion started. I'm guessing when I captured motion it would use the cached video go start the recorded clip 5 seconds before the triggered motion. For example, a call pulls into my culdesac, right now, if they are driving fast, the video starts recording when they are already half way into the scene. I want the clip to start right before they even enter the picture.

Is there a setting in BI to do this?

I do know that I could change my setting to .5 a sec of motion and change the sensitivity but that really opens the window of getting video I dont need.

Thanks,
Brian

Welcome to the forum! :D

What you are looking for is the "Pre-trigger frame buffer size" which you will find in the BI help file under cameras - recording.

BI can save up to 150 frames prior to the motion trigger - the help file should give you all the details about it you need.

Welcome to the forum!...yes blue iris has the feature you want...go to the camera record tab and then "pre-trigger frame buffer size"...note this is measured in frames not seconds..so if you want say 2 seconds before the motion and your camera records at 15fps, then you need to set the buffer to 30 (2x15fps)...
Edit: zxel beat me to it :)

LOL, beat you to it - hehe.

Edit: Off topic but @fenderman when are you going to get an avatar? I supose it would be mad playing on a fender guitar or some such thing, but really, you should get an avatar so I can make fun of it.
