So I want to mount a Starlight on a barn 25 yards from my house and record IVS events locally on an SD card (no NVR and not worried about theft/tampering, etc.). I already have a Unifi AP AC that provides decent wifi signal at the location connected to my home router.

For any Ubiquiti people out there, are there any suggested setups that would allow me to connect wirelessly to the camera via my Unifi AP and manage/download recorded content on the SD card with the Dahua software or some other software?

I'm also interested if it's possible for the camera to send push notifications from this type of setup.

I really dont want to do the whole Nanostation point to point setup because I don't need to stream to an NVR.

Yes offcourse you can do this as you mentioned !!

If you have power out at your barn, as I'm sure you do, then any number of devices exist that can connect your barn to your Unifi AP. Assuming the AP is indoors (through a wall) you'll want something that operates on 2.4 GHz probably, as this penetrates walls better than 5 GHz. No reason not to use a Nanostation for this, and you only need one if you are going to connect it to your home wifi: Amazon.com: Ubiquiti NanoStation locoM2 2.4GHz Indoor/Outdoor airMax 8dBi CPE: Computers & Accessories

@bp2008, what's the possibility of a sticky regarding how to set up a wireless layer 2 transparent bridge (like at airMAX - How to Configure a Point-to-Point Link (Layer 2, Transparent Bridge) ), as I have posted this info 2 or 3 times in different areas in the last month and I think you have as well. It seems there is a definite need for folks to network their barn, guest house, etc. for IP cameras and can't or don't want to have a wired solution.

Attached is a 3 page PDF file from Beanstalk that, IMHO, illustrates and explains it better for those struggling to set up the bridge.

thanks all, so I decided to not do a p2p and go with a unifi ac mesh to create a mesh network since the barn is so close to the ap, i can then use the lan port to connect to the camera. its cheaper this way and can be all controlled via the unifi controller software.

FYI, both the Ubiquiti NSM2 and the NSM5 have 2 LAN ports, a MAIN and a SECONDARY. Glad you seem to have found your solution using your Ubiquiti UniFi.
