sunset keeps shifting

You cameras will be listed under Remote Device

Should be a list of them with little blue IE links to open the actual camera GUI as @wittaj showed you. Just a newer GUI

bigredfish with my newer gui , i dont seem to have a hot link to web. i have as wittaj advised aligned my nvr to my pc/modem . my modem can now see it . the cam gui now works but im imminently going to get locked out as i wrote down my created pw for the cam but dont know if thats what pw im being asked for I guess it's the cam PW?

So the NVR is a 5 series or a 4 series? Of course I am aware that the camera is an 5 series.
And you now have forgotten the password?

Paul,I asked the shop to install the HDD, when I first switched on it just wanted the pattern I think, they gave it me and all was good. Maybe I never knew the PW. I don't where U thought series 5 ,top of this thread is the equipment I have

Unless you purposely did something, the NVR will assign the username and password of the NVR to the camera when it first powers up.

If you cannot get into the camera, you can always factory reset the camera and let the NVR initialize it again and it will assign it the NVR user and password.

I had heard that was advisable. I only have notes of me initialising the cam and used a PW that I wrote down. I've just tried to change the PW inside the nvr and it likewise says I've got 4 more attempts.

1. When shop set up the nvr, they surely had to set a PW?
2. That i.e gui I showed , is that asking for the cam PW or nvr PW

I cannot tell from just that screen if it is your NVR or camera login.

BUT, unless the shop did something stupid, the camera password should be the same as the NVR.

But we have seen a lot of these "professionals" have no idea what they are doing and totally screw the system up setting it up.

Personally, if this were my system I would factory reset it all and start over. Those guys could have a backdoor username or some other nonsense to get into your system.

On your previous other posts I understood it was a 5 series camera and NVR, sorry if I misunderstood.
But now it was set-up after the hard drive installation with a pattern lock, that you may think? Also that your not aware of any system password.
Have you ever retrieved a user manual for the CCTV cameras and or NVR.

Bigredfish: Indeed "Britain is lost".

wittaj , the ie gui was for web address 192.168.0.108 so i think it is for the nvr not camera. whenever i have frequently connected the cam via my modem i put in the pw & im fine to alter speeds etc in camera. i know that pw cos i initialised the cam. if i do a reset via dmss , how long does it take .
2. is it a auto system , or waits for dahua staff to give me reset code
3. will that stop the shop from going in back door

If you set the password, then that is the password you use after you hit the "e" icon within the NVR.

Factory reset is simply a few minutes. Under power, press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds and 2 minutes later the camera is reinitialized in the NVR with the NVR user and password.

omg this is a nightmare , just setting up dmss it wants device name , is that a name i make up or does the nvr have its own name lol

You’ve lost focus
Start over

Don’t mess with DMSS until you can login to the NVR and the cameras

ist gonna be called busted when it goes thru the window soon lol
will wait till tomorrow to get the pw from shop then i can change it
dmss wants the device password to reset the password !
i need some cold wet rain
thanks for your help but just seen that bigredfish has warned me not to do what ive just overheated at doing !

but if that fails , press the reset button 30secs whilst power still on , then release and just wait for it to do its thing ?
presume it will ask me to set a user name and password in the nvr

Do not reset the password from DMSS.
Anyway if you have the NVR password to give to DMSS why not login to the NVR first! Dont use the app to manage the NVR, it’s great for live view and replay. Stop there

One you have NVR password, login to it, go to the bottom left of the Home Screen “remote devices” , choose a camera, click the IE button for that camera and login to the camera gui

As mentioned, unless you changed the password for the camera (you should NOT) it will be the same as the password for the NVR.

When you default a camera, it automagically assumes the same password as the NVR (assuming it’s a Dahua camera and it’s plugged into the NVR)

Yep you are going too deep to quick LOL.

Don't mess with DMSS until you are ready for remote viewing.

Get the system set up to your liking and secure first.

No need to go thru the nonsense of waiting for password from shop - more than likely they don't have it or won't give it to you without a service fee LOL.

Resetting the camera via the reset button will take care of it and assign it the password of the NVR.

well BRF thats where its wierd , cos i am pretty certain i had to initialise the camera in dahua config tool then i had to set it to dhcp & the nvr found it BUT strangely that pw i put into the cam is what i use to poke into it direct via internet explorer
the cam has always worked since so that seems not as u or others would expect
