Hi - New guy here

I purchased the above camera off Ebay shipped from HK, it lasted three days!
No luck with returning it or technical support
Loads of features, low price and very poor software

The Integrated web server crashed (bricked) while setting up the motion detection function
I can ping the camera and "connect" but not log into a Telnet session (no telnet credentials)

Anyone know this camera?
How about help with the telnet log in or FTP - would like to try to upload software if possible

I sure hope my $50.00 did not go to waste

Thanks for the help

Thanks for the quick response

Regarding wasting my time
I have loads of it (retired & loving life after 40 years in the video equipment manufacturing industry) even better might enjoy the challenge attempting to get this junk operational

What's your opinion of the hikvision 2032?
Does not look as if it supports Wifi interface

My required features; Outdoor (rain and snow), Wifi, 12Vdc powered, email snap shots, good low light resolution

Wifi will never be 100 percent stable...is there no way you can run a single ethernet cable there? The 2032 is a superb value and very reliable. You can both power the 2032 and transmit data over a single cable as the camera supports POE (power over ethernet) If you insist on wifi you can use one of these as a wifi bridge http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WR...&qid=1414334132&sr=8-1&keywords=tplink+bridge
This will turn any camera into a wifi camera...or even better use powerline adapters http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-PA...=1414334187&sr=1-1&keywords=powerline+adapter
If night vision is important to you, consider these 1.3mp cameras (1.3mp cameras have somewhat better nightvision than the 3mp but the 3mp will have better daytime resolution)

Appreciate the suggestions
Will get one of the 2032 cameras to play with

I understand the tradeoff's regarding WiFi
The camera is located about 400ft from the nearest Enet hardwired router/switch, a solar powered 12Vdc system is within 40ft of the camera no AC power
Funny you mention the TP-LINK routers - I have four of them operational around the place - Mostly good stuff (the firmware could use some help) with a nice low price
Just make sure you do not get the TP-LINK off Ebay from HK as I did, got one with Chinese menus with no way to change firmware took days to understand the setup
Additionally have a few of the TRENDnet power line adapters, My experience is that they tend to be a lot more flaky than the WiFi interface
The EnGenious WiFi access point and bridge have been flawless for several years now

My dead camera is/was a 1.3Mp and as you say did a good job with night views but lacked a bit for high quality daytime views

Sure hope we can find someone with experience on the BTT CAM

Another camera you may want to consider is this http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/Products_show.asp?id=9797
You need to specify the W version for wifi...since there is no external antenna i doubt it has very long range...but may work for you...note that the IR on this camera is not strong at all, if you need distance for ir this will not suffice without an external illustrator...the cam supports SD card, and has a built in mic (S version), and alarm in/out
There is a 3mp 2532 version as well, identical in all other respects.

I have the same problem. But CAM make own AP and then I reset it. But if I use send mail function - reset. So, motion detect is disabled - OK. If I setup auto capture every 2 mins to email (its setup correct) ... then every 2 minutes is CAM restarted.

After looking for hours on the web
I still can not find out who manufactured this POS camera
Sure hope others do not make the mistake I did in purchasing this junk

Thanks for the update and warning.....like we said, cheap lesson learned....Hope more folks see this and go with the trusted makers like hikvision and dahua for a few dollars more.

Howdy!

I am new to the forum and ip camera myself too! I just recently purchased a WiFi ip camera myself but it also support PoE as well too so I thought I would share it with you but it a bit pricey ..

http://www.amazon.com/Sharx-Securit...?ie=UTF8&qid=1415333911&sr=8-1&keywords=sharx

I own two of those outdoor models and one of the indoor model. I really like the quality of the outdoor camera and I am using WiFi connections. I am in IT industry and I know all about WiFi and that it not 100% reliable as wired version.

Wired ip camera is the way to go but real reason I went with wireless because I am renting the house that I live in so drilling holes for cable is a no-no however I am allow to drill holes to for mounting screws. So I have mounted my camera outside near windows. This way I can open the top part of the windows and plug the camera to the outlet inside the house and the power wire is thin enough for me to shut the windows on it.

I really wanted a nice high resolution and high quailty camera and it was hard to find one with wireless until I discovered Sharx camera. I really like it and I think it was worth the money I paid for the cameras. When we buy our own home then we will switch and use the PoE version.

Also this camera is self-contained meaning you don't need to have a NVR set up to use it, It have it own memory card inside the camera where it can storage recording from motion detect or email you a copy etc. You also can use NAS drive if you prefer. Or you can use it with NVR, software and apps designed for ip camera.

If wired is not possible for you then I would suggest you check this Sharx camera out and read the review on Amazon or email them they will response back to your emails quick. I been real pleased with their support service and speedy responses.

The sharx does have good reviews..but man is that pricey...but it seems to work with very little issue so its worth the extra bux...but only in your case where you are not allowed to drill...other wise you could have a pro run ethernet and use the a 85 dollar hikvision with better results and break even on cost...ive always wondered if you can close a window on one of these thin ethernet http://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-Snagle...&qid=1415335134&sr=8-1&keywords=thin+ethernet
or something made of this material which is even thinner

Maybe solution :-)

I have this camera and when I setup Motion detect, the camera is restarting again and again with "clip clap" sound of filter (ping to camera IP works only few second).

First brick: I disconnect camera from LAN and power on/off. After few minutes appear new wifi AP - camera point :-) After that I can connect and reset camera settings.

Second brik: I have setup mail server over SSL. And time sync from NTP every 1 hour (default is 12 hour). Now I try enable motion detect. After that camrea start restarting. When is motion selected, cam is restarted and have date and time sets to 1970-01-01. So when connecting to mailserver over SSL - server return error, because date is too different. So I leave camera in restarting. After cca one hour, camera sync time a start working!

Maybe this solution help :-)

Thanks for the suggestions

I guess I'm the only one that purchased this junk camera
Was hoping for a "fix" but have pretty much given up - The piece of junk will become a dummy camera

POE is a nice feature reducing the wiring needed in many installs - Use it for a few AP routers around the place
However it will not help when the nearest enet router is over 400ft away with no way to bury cables in the lawn
I have a good supply of 12Vdc and a protected WiFi signal that's just waiting for a replacement fully functioning IP camera
