Swan DVR-1575 with other cameras not working?

Hey guys, I'm new to how this works and stupid as I am I bought 2 cameras instead of testing 1. I own a swan dvr-1575, have 4 cameras to it. It isn't hq but it does the job. I expected these 2 to be same quality if not better, as long as I can see a person trespassing poor quality or not I'm happy. $25\cam cant go wrong but it doesn't work at all. It powers up but no screen what so ever. Is there any way to fix this issue? If not am I forced to buy their dvr? for $60 I don't mind but if possible to get a raspberry pi instead for same price or cheaper that'll even be better as I can always use that for other things. Maybe there are other cheap dvrs out there that'll be compatible? what are you thoughts on this

In general it is best to stick with cameras that the vendor recommends are compatible unless you are willing to take the time to determine interoperability issues. Note, I'm a IP PoE fan so I'm not fully aware of coax analog DVR and camera compatibility. That noted, I would check to see which CCTV specs are supported by the cameras and dvr and see if they support the same specs.
